About Us:
Who We Are
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and School is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod with a congregational history of faithful Gospel proclamation since 1868.
The adjective Evangelical means that we proclaim the good news that Jesus Christ has paid the penalty of our sins and is our Redeemer and Savior.
Trinity's Mission is that together, we come to hear, know and feed upon Jesus Christ, God's living Word, grow in Him and share Him with others and each other to the glory of God..
As an instrument of Christ’s mission, Our Vision is to invite the community to share in the Good News of Jesus Christ. As each person grows in faith, we believe that they are enabled to joyfully use God-given gifts for loving service to our neighbors both locally and globally.
What We Believe
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and School believes that the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God, and the only source and authority for our teaching. Trinity also believes that it is only by God's free gift (grace) that we are saved and have come to have a relationship with Him. Through that relationship and our faith alone in Jesus Christ that we have the forgiveness of our sins; for Jesus is God's Son and the world's only Savior. God has given us His Word through the Holy Bible and through the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper to aid our growth in faith, love and service. While we wait for Jesus to return, our purpose then is to seek to be at the seat of His eternal banquet table, and by inviting all people to know and serve Him.
What We Do
The people of God at Trinity gather regularly to hear the Word of God, sing His praises, and to offer prayer to Him. We also offer Christian education through our Pre-School and Kindergarten to 8th Grade Day School, Vacation Bible School and Sunday School.
We promote and encourage outreach to every area of our community as the resources of the congregation and opportunities allow.
We also grow in Christian faith through the study and sharing of God's Word on Sunday morning and through a variety of Bible studies offered throughout the week. In this regard, Trinity offers special classes for men only and women only, and we provide a number of classes for young people of all ages.
Trinity Lutheran is a mission-minded congregation and partners with groups and ministries such as Rebuilding the Breach in Gary, which reaches out to the lost and down-trodden.
The congregation also serves the community by supporting ministries to the needy; some of which are Trinity Cares, Community Care Cupboard and more.
Members of Trinity also encourage one another through a variety of activities such as small group and service opportunities.
With six weekend worship services, Trinity Lutheran is a collective of six churches, but our mission and ministry is one; that is, our members are committed to believing in One True God and to serving our God through a variety of activities and services.
